Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
326 AM MDT Fri May 30 2025
.SHORT TERM...Today through Sunday night...An upper ridge
strengthens today for dry conditions. Temperatures will be
slightly lower in some areas, however, due to the passage of a
weak cold front yesterday, but still 10 to 15 degrees above
normal. The ridge starts to move east on Saturday, allowing for
southwest flow to import even warmer air into the region. Highs
will be the warmest so far this year with several records
expected to be met or exceeded. A Heat Advisory remains in
effect for the valleys due to hot temperatures in the 90s to
around 100F. A cold front moves through Sunday night,
accompanied by breezy to windy conditions that persist into
Sunday. The front will bring 10 to 20 degrees of cooling with
highs in the 70s to mid 80s. It will be a mostly dry front, but
there is a 15 to 30 percent chance of showers in the higher
elevations of SW Idaho in the afternoon and evening.
.LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...Models continue to trend
drier and warmer compared to previous runs for early to
midweek, but there remains a 15 to 30 percent chance of showers
over the higher elevations of SW Idaho. Temperatures average
within a few degrees of normal. A dry northwest flow is favored
by most ensembles for the end of the week with a slight upward
trend in temperatures.

.AVIATION...VFR. Surface winds: mainly NW 5-15 kt. Winds aloft

border. Surface winds: mainly variable to 10 kt on Saturday,
then NW 10-20 kt with gusts to 30 kt on Sunday.
